Noe Phone Home

Remember E.T.?
E.T. is one of those movies you tend to NOT forget. Not only because of E.T. (the extra terrestrial little thing) but also because of many aspects of the movie… how cute the kids are, etc.

Anyway, lately I’ve been really talking E.T. ‘style’ due to my lack of internet in my room (which sucks big time).

As you’ll know I have the iPhone which is GREAT when you don’t have internet access. I have an application that’s for IMing so I’ve been using that to communicate with my mom. It has one bad things, though. You can’t type in Spanish and expect the phone to finish the word for you… so I just type single words and verbs in present tense. So a sentence like ‘Are you doing anything this weekend?’ ends up being: u do wknd?

In Spanish it’s said you’re speaking like an ‘Indian’ but it’d be like speaking like a foreigner if you were going to a Spanish Speaking country for the first time. You try to make yourself understand… so you talk as if you were talking about someone else, like saying: Noe go shopping Monday.

Thanks God, my mom speaks ET so our conversations were more or less like this for the past week:

M. no internet?
N. noe phone.
N. Noe ok
N. Sick Cough Medicine.
M. Oh my poor little daughter. Are you ok? Are you taking anything for the cold?
N. Noe no sleep see friend NYC fun
M. Did you all have fun? Oh I’m so so happy!
N. noe visit ESB
N. ESB king kong
M. oh that must have been so much fun!
M. have you heard from Gary.
N. noe go Boston wknd see Gary
N. Gary boat
N. Gary back end March
M. oh Poor Gary he’s still in the boat. Can he talk to you on the phone?
N. no
N. Gary can’t
M. L what happened with the internet?
N. noe home change carrier
N. Verizon
N. no cable noe room
N. noe think big problems cable
N. Tuesday people come
N. noe want other company
N. cable noe room
N. noe can’t dialup
N. noe cancel account
N. noe save money

So anyway… that’s the way our conversations have been lately. It’s fun… but tiring. Then, I end up talking like that to the kids. They LOVE it coz it’s fun, but it’s not fun for me when I mixed up all the verbs and the English/Spanish words.

I’m really happy God gave me a mother like mine.

Thanks mom for your time and energy reading my chats lately
