Colombian Independence Party - how fun...
TOMS
Most of you know how INFURIATED i was when i saw the show about the alpargatas. I was talking to Dina and I found the guy's profile on myspace. his name is Blake and thru Dina's profile I sent him an email...
OMG- i was SO SO Upset when i saw you tonite on the big idea and you said you DESIGNED the shoes. i mean, fuck it. people have worn alpargatas before I was born and even before my grandparents were born. the fact that the alpargatas are not trademarked in Argentina doesn't give you the right to say you designed the shoe. fuck. i just wanna cry because you people TAKE EVERYTHING FROM OTHER COUNTRIES. not even one drop of originiality. you know? i'm ok with the cause you're doing and everything, but please be honest and say that you got the idea from the ACTUAL shoe in Argentina. it just pisses me off. that's all.
The next day Dina gets this reply from the guy: (YES!!! he replied!!!)
i am sorry my appearance on the show made you upset. I always tell everyone the background story of how I started TOMS; about how i went to argentina and saw the polo players using alpargatas and how they were all the rage and i became curious about them...i reviewed the tape with my interns today to make sure i didn't mispeak and claim that i designed the shoes...we saw that i did mention that the shoe was argentine inspired and that i did get the shoe from argentina..we even page homage to the country by putting the flag colors on the back of our shoes and on our bags
blake
They've been messaging for the past week and we learnt many things about the project and stuff, so I'm not angry anymore. But it did piss me off big time. I know i'm very impulsive about certain things, so this time i'll be saying SORRY to Blake for having such a shitty temper sometimes.
NEW LINKS
I have trouble sleeping and as I have stopped chatting - now I read blogs. :)
I've found some very cool people around the world, and I'm very happy with the list I've selected as 'favorites' on my computer... I have more than 75 new bloggers. I know it's a lot, but it's like watching a new movie every day. I dont read them as often as my regular readings, but reading Mood Indigo and TIK have kept me busy this past week.
On a very cute note, someone said this of me and she sent it over to ALL her friends in her profile:
