"Your warning expires Oct 10"- UPDATED

Sunday was a busy day as I started getting ready for my trip... I needed to do some shopping and get some clothes, bags, presents, and other household stuff (I was SHOCKED at how much laundry soap costs! OMG!)

As I'm driving I see a Police car.
For those of you who don't know me I AM TERRIFIED of the Police. I was pulled over once in my life, didn't get a ticket, just a warning... but again, if I see a Police car... I drive the other way even if that will take me to the other side of the place I'm going.
Yesterday I didn't want to waste my time so I kept going... and my bad luck hit me when suddenly the Police car is behind me with the lights on.

I'm like: WTF did I do????

PO: Hello Miss, my name is Officer John Doe from Newington. Do you know why I stopped you?
Me: No.
PO: Well... your State Inspection is expired by just a few days.
Me: Oh really? (Yes I know Officer... that's why I tried to avoid you!)
PO: Can I have your registration, Insurance and DL?
Me: Sure.

I handed everything to him and because our car is under Gary's name, and I use my maiden name we ALWAYS have problems.

PO: Who's Gary _________?
Me: He's my husband.
PO: Why you don't have his last name?
Me: Because... (and I gave him all the explanation WHY I don't have Gary's last name)
PO: I will be right back.

The PO went to his car, stayed there for what it seemed like eternity. I saw him talk to someone on the radio and then he came back.

PO: Lady, you're just getting a warning. You need to have the car inspected by Oct 10 and you should consider replacing your windshield. Remember: Oct 10.

The windshield had a crack when we bought it. It was about 2 inches long. As time went by, the crack measured about 20 inches. It was on the passenger side, but the whole windshield was really bad. We had an appointment last week, but with Gary not being here and my shitty pregnancy... we missed it.

Anyway, the glass guy came to my house this morning, changed the windshield and I have my appointment to get my car inspected at 3pm.

I've been lucky with my encounters with the Police... even when I'm not driving :) as 2 weeks ago Gary came for just few hours and in the period of 45 minutes we were stopped 3 times, and came out with just 2 warnings :)

UPDATE:
I went to have the inspection and because the hood doesn't latch properly the guy didn't want to give me the 'sticker'. However, we moved some stuff and I got the sticker.
He gave me the paper and it says: SAFETY INSPECTION = REJECTED! :(
(I still have til 9/2010 to fix the hood... hopefully by next year we'll get a new car)
