A little bit of History
After Gary graduated from his training in NJ, he was stationed in New Hampshire.
A. Place he works - though he actually works in Maine.B. Place where we live.
As soon as we got here we had to do all the papers and everything for our car, so we got new license plates and stuff.
For those of you who don't live in NH, this is what a NH plate looks like. (it's not ours... I got it online from some site)
For a very long time we wondered what the design was. Was it a mountain? Was it a man? Was it a river? We didn't know WTF that was...
For a very long time we wondered what the design was. Was it a mountain? Was it a man? Was it a river? We didn't know WTF that was...We always talked about finding out what that was, but we never looked.
On Wednesday morning after doing all my research and realizing we couldn't go on vacation to the places we wanted, I decided to check NH and see what they had to offer... and oh boy! did I find GREAT! outdoor activities and cultural stuff.
Well, it looks like this was part of place in the White Mountain National Forest and it's called the 'Old Man of the Mountains'. It was a series of 5 granite cliff ledges that when they were viewd from the correct angle, it appeared to be the jagged profile of a face.
Gary and I are going to the White mountains next week but we're not gonna be able to see the Old Man as it collapsed on May 3, 2003. This is the picture without the face:
Wikipedia has this photo on the entry - which gives us the example on how it looked when the 'face' was there and how it looks now.
So there you go... Mistery solved! :)
I said: What a resemblance to the one of the NH plate...
