When the 'social network' took over real life

A few months ago my BFF got 'deleted' from another friend's Facebook account.
This chick erased her from her account just because my BFF couldn't make it to her hubby's bday party. If I'm correct, she left a message saying: that's how you treat your friends... or something like that.

My BFF sent her an email -which this other chick never replied- and that was the end. She got 'erased' from Facebook.

This story brings the main idea of this post today.

I was having dinner with Gary on Saturday night when I received a msg on my Facebook that said: 'thanks for letting me know you were coming to XXX's party.' I immediately thought: OMG! I totally forgot to RSVP to that party!!!!!
I felt terribly bad and I wanted to txt her back and say I'm sorry - I forgot.
But it was the tone of the message, the way she wrote it and THE PLACE she wrote it that bothered me the most. Not that she got mad at me for not RSVPing - but the fact she posted it on Facebook (it would have been the same if she'd done it on myspace).

I don't know when we allowed Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and all that stuff to take over the personal relationships. She's a great friend - but that bothered me. She posted it on Facebook, hasn't talked to me since the message (she didn't erase me thou... good sign!) and I know she won't talk to me until call her.

The photo I used was from this movie 'Bride Wars' - which totally rocks! I enjoyed it and even Gary enjoyed it too!!!
