'Oh Dad... it's just that my boots are too tall!!!'

The weekend in Texas was fun, I had a great time with my friends, and it was full of comments on everything - from kids, to parenting, to fashion, to UFOs, to marriage, pregnancy, etc.

But one episode that got stuck in my head was this one.

Father (50) and daughter (20) are sitting together in the couch.
Father is wearing pajamas.
Daughter is wearing rain boots, a mini skirt, a very tight top.

Father: what is this you're wearing?
Daughter: it's a skirt
Father: don't you think it's too short?
Daughter: Oh Dad! you just see it short just because my boots are too tall!!!

I've worn mini skirts and I loved it coz I have really nice legs to wear skirts. However, someone once made a comment abount my skirts being so short and that made me think a lot about the fact that we think as women ... and for us it's just a way to show our legs and be 'comfy' (I don't know about being comfy in mini skirts, to tell you the truth).

What are we trying to say wearing such short skirts?(*)

What message are we giving guys???
I know the answer and I wish I could have said that to her - but she was 20. She wasn't gonna understand and she would have said: Oh Noelia... you say that because you're old. (like I never wore a skirt... or dated, you know?)

At 28 I wasn't old and this guy told me that phrase and it got stuck with me... and every time I put my mini skirt I remember his phrase as if he was talking to me at that right second.

The worst part of all?

We call ourselves Christians.
Good example, right?

(*) I have the same opinion on married women wearing tops that show the belly button. It doesn't matter how old they are... To me that's wrong and it says a lot about the person and the message that woman is sending to other guys.
