Miss California Controversy
For those of you who have no idea what this is about, I will let you in a little 'celebrity' gossip which I find funny just for ONE remark.
On Sunday night was the Miss USA pageant.
Each contestant when they get to the final 5 has to answer a question by one of the Judges. In this case the candidate was Miss California and she had to answer the question made by celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton. (Yes! My guilty pleasure).
Perez Hilton:
“Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?”
Miss California:
“In my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be — between a man and a woman.”
She lost the Miss USA crown.
However, she's been around talking about this and answering to people asking whether she'd have done it any other way. She said: “No, I wouldn’t have answered differently. It’s not about being politically correct; for me, it was being biblically correct, When I’m asked a specific question, I’m going to give a specific answer. I’m not going to stand in the middle. I’m going to take one side or another."
And this is what I find funny/interesting: 'it was being biblically correct'.
Do we use the Bible when it suits us best or are still people in this world not afraid of standing up for what they believe in?
Way to go Miss California!
I thought you were an idiot for answering what you answer! But you proved your point when 2 days later you were the most talked contestant, you've been in almost every program, and you said this:
"I'm very proud of myself. I was true to myself, and I know now I can go out and speak to young people about standing up for what you believe in and never compromising anything, for anyone or anything, even if it is the crown of Miss USA."
