I decide to call Customer Service.

CS. Good morning. Thank you for calling (cellphone company). My name is Bernard. How can I help you today?
Me. Good morning. I would like to cancel my account.
CS. Sure ma'am. Let me verify your account information. Can you please tell me your name?
Me. (spell my name)
CS. Would you mind spelling your last name?
Me. X-X-X-X
Cs. Thank you Ms XXXX. What can I do for you today?
Me. I would like to cancel my account.
Cs. I call certainly help you with this. Please let me verify your information. Would you mind waiting on line while I check your information?

(2 minutes later)

CS. Miss XXXX you're one of our most valuable members. You've been a member for almost 8 years and we don't want to lose you. We have a new offer for you ...
Me. Thank you, but no. I want to cancel my account...
CS. ... but this is our best deal for you and we would like for you to take advantage of this great deal (cellphone company) has for you.
Me. I just want to cancel my account. I'm not interested in anything else. I'm paying too much and I don't want to use (cellphone company) anymore.
CS. Let me talk to my supervisor to make sure we're offering the right deal for you.
Me. I just want to cancel my account.

(2 minutes later)

CS. I talked to my supervisor and we would like to offer you, just for you, this very special deal of (x amount of $)... JUST FOR YOU - for being such a great costumer and member...
Me. Do you think I could talk to somebody in Spanish?
CS. I'm sorry m'am. We have no representative who speaks Spanish. But I can help you with this situation.
9.21am - I hung up.

9.25am

CS. Good morning. Thank you for calling (cellphone company). My name is Roger. How can I help you this morning?
Me. I would like to cancel my account.
CS. Sure ma'am. I can help you with that.
...
CS. Miss XXXX - it seems your account has been already cancelled. Did you call a while ago?
Me. Yes. I just hung up with the person I was talking to coz I was trying to explain to him all I wanted was to cancel my account and he kept offering me other things.
Cs. You're all set, ma'am. You last billing day was 12/11/08 and if you decide to get a new account from (cellphone company) don't hesitate to call us. Thank you and have a great day.
Me. Thank you.
9.31am - Account cancelled!

I didn't curse(*) at the other guy..
I just hung up.


(*) I curse in English -that's why I prefer to talk to SPanish Speaking representatives so that I don't curse them!

Parece que son iguales en todos lados!

Qué bárbaro che! Lo buen es que ahora ya cancelaste la cuenta. Acá usamos esta estrategia para pagar menos de lo que se paga normalmente y mantener el servicio, jeje.
