Role Models
I've been struggling for a while with this 'role model' thingy.
I take care of 2 kids and though they're not my kids, I wonder who they'll look up when they're teens... in this society where pop stars and celebrities are ROLE MODELS.
You know what?
My role model was a lady who didnt look for any fame or celebrity-style life. She was doing her work, minding her own business. If she did something public was to draw attention to her cause. She was a lady who believed in serving others.
My role model was my grandmother - who after her best friend died accepted my grandfather's marriage proposal. She married a man with 3 children, had a daughter, lost her daughter and became my mom's mom - one of the most unselfish women I've ever met in my life.
My role models are not singers, actresses, or people in the show business...
How can you choose a girl who gets half-naked on a magazine to be your role model?
How can you choose a girl who publicly says she'll wait til she's married to have sex and then photogs take pics of her leaving a hotel at 5am with her boyfriend to be your role model?
There is something VERY WRONG with parents and society these days.
In a way I'm happy I dont have kids coz I dont have to deal with it, but I do pray and praise those parents who make good choices on WHO their kids' role models should be.
(i'm upset at this article I read on Yahoo! - sorry!!!)

I completely agree...Hannah will be 8 in about 2 weeks, and it worries me who she may be looking up to and want to start being like..right now its me, but in a few ore years I might not get so lucky...
I soooo agree with every word you wrote in this post.
Sidenote: I had no idea you had started back to blogging. Last time I checked your blog you said you were taking a break. Glad to see you are back to blogging. :)
it scares me to death to think who my kids will decide to choose as role models, i'm hoping no one famous because...well...they're ot the best of role models. scares me more with my daughter...
